Woman takes man to court for “standing her up” on date and is seeking thousands
A seasoned defense attorney even said "he should've swiped left."

What do you do when you learn you’re on a bad date or, worse when you’re stood up?

You’d complain to your sister, your family, or friends but after that you’ll move on, right?

That’s not the case with QaShontae.

She was supposed to be on a date with Richard Jordan but he stood her up. And now, she’s suing him for $10,000 for “intentional infliction of emotional distress.”

Yes, this is real.

In the lawsuit, she stated that her date, Richard, intentionally hurt her because he “did not show and left on [her] mother’s birthday and [her] mom had just passed away.”

And she even represented herself. Judge Herman Marable Jr. was the judge assigned to her case and, according to the virtual hearing, he is a patient man in hearing the case.

Or maybe he’s just curious.

Because he was being sued, Jordan had no choice but to attend the virtual hearing that ended up becoming a heated argument between Justice Marable and Miss Short.

And because she stated she was representing herself, Judge Marable asked Richard if he was also representing himself.

Richard stammered at first before he gave an honest statement.

“To be honest with you, sir, I thought this was going to be thrown out. We had a date, one date, and nothing else after that. And now I’m being sued for $10,000,” Richard told Judge Marable during the virtual hearing.

The viewers cannot believe this is a lawsuit and an issue that needed to be heard in court.

“Sad that our legal system will allow people to literally sue someone for anything like this.” Mantis Toboggan, M.D. lamented.

And to make matters worse, QaShontae wasn’t even taking this seriously. She attended the virtual hearing while she was walking at the airport.

The whole hearing only took around 10 minutes but it was 10 minutes too long for Judge Marable.

First of all, she was suing Richard for the wrong reason.

And the judge called her out.

He asked her if she knew what the word perjury meant and she did not like that she was questioned about it.

“He put a document that stated a lie,” QaShontae yelled at the Judge. “Bottom line you said it was a criminal offense so I will send it to circuit court. Are we done here? Are we done here? … I know exactly what perjury means.”

She let the judge have it.

She kept shouting at the judge for the majority of the time. Richard merely became a spectator during this virtual hearing.

At one point, Judge Marable took off his face shield so he could address QaShontae directly. But she was so offended she kept rambling.

“Please do not insult my intelligence,” QaShontae screamed. “Do not do that. Do not insult my intelligence as if I do not understand what the word perjury means. Do not! If it’s a criminal offense then it’s a criminal offense.”

Muted by order

The yelling got so bad that Judge Marable had to ask his staff to mute QaShontae’s audio.

In the end, the judge had enough and transferred the case to circuit court.
